Event Details

We will meet at 10:45am at Letchworth Railway Station (35 mins by train from Kings Cross) and walk (10 mins) to the International Garden Cities Institute, housed in the former drawing offices (above) of the architects Parker and Unwin. Members arriving by car may prefer to meet at the Institute at 11:00am. Curators Josh Tidy and Vicky Axell will give introductory talks followed by a guided tour of the permanent exhibition. This traces the history of the Garden City Movement and the international influence of the Movement on town planning and the urban landscape.

After lunch at the Broadway Studio and Gallery (part of Letchworth Heritage Foundation) there will be a guided walking tour (about 2 hours).

Tickets: £25 to include morning coffee/tea, a sandwich lunch and notes/map/reading list. Please email tickets@londongardenstrust.org with any dietary requirements.

Rail: Details of a recommended train will be given on publication of the October timetable (currently 9:52am from Kings Cross)

Car: Information on parking and directions to the Institute will be supplied to members who prefer to drive

Fitness: There will be a good deal of walking - all on the flat!
